PART ONE – BRIBIE ISLAND TO RAINBOW BEACH

As a family, we have ventured on this road trip a number of times and it is a great way to explore the eastern coastline and The Southern Great Barrier Reef. The first leg of the trip is a short two and a half hour drive (210km) up the Bruce Highway to the beautiful seaside town of Rainbow beach. We always stay at Rainbow Beach Holiday Village. It is located in the centre of town and you can request sites with ocean views, this park is also pet friendly and has a pool. There is stacks of stuff you can do at Rainbow, from diving with grey nurse sharks at Wolf Rock to day trips to the world famous Fraser Island.

On our last trip we ventured on a family learn to surf adventure.

This trip takes you on a 45 minute, 4wd trip up Rainbow Beach taking in the sights of the coloured sand cliffs to Double Island Point where you can either have a surf lesson or choose to kayak over to the point in search of dolphins. This is a great family day out and great value for money.

The surf club is 50m away from the park. It’s a great place for a feed and a cold beer with awesome ocean views.
